The Percussions Claviers de Lyon produce an innovative and eclectic repertoire for their instruments that is always evolving.
The quintet is constantly striving for musical excellence, reaching out to their audiences with original music creations, multidisciplinary performances, and collaborations with renowned bands and musicians like French singer Bertrand Belin (Calamity/Billy – 2018, Bertrand Belin & Les Percussions Claviers de Lyon – 2020), Doudou N’Diaye Rose (Mix – 2004), Zalindê (Caleidoscópio – 2019).
These include the interpretation of pieces from the western musical heritage (Steve Reich, John Cage, Leonard Bernstein, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Darius Milhaud), transcriptions of popular music works (Scott Joplin, Emilie Simon, Chico Buarque, Jule Styne), as well as commissioned musical pieces by contemporary composers (Gavin Bryars, Moritz Eggert, Thierry Pécou, Xu-Yi, Patrick Burgan).
The ensemble also participates in numerous cultural and educational activities on tour such as conferences and workshops, as they do in L’Hameçon, their residence in Lyon, France.
Gilles Dumoulin
Artistic coordinator
In parallel to his classical music studies in Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon (France), Gilles Dumoulin has been involved in eclectic bands since his teenage years before becoming a member of the ensemble in 2002. In 2015, he took over the artistic coordination of the ensemble and was responsible for the following productions: Batèches (2015) ; Halla San (2016); Mille et Une (2017); Ravel transatlantique; En Blanc et noir; From New York to London; Caleidoscópio (2019); Bertrand Belin & les Percussions Claviers de Lyon (2020); Diables & Démons (2021).
Sylvie Aubelle
Pedagogical coordinator
Since her childhood in Amiens, northern France, Sylvie Aubelle has had a keen in interest in theatre, song and popular music – she played the accordion before studying percussion in the cities of Créteil and Lyon. Sylvie is a member of the ensemble since 2003, she is now involved in the development and realisation of the quintet’s cultural activities.
Jérémy Daillet
After being devoted to the drums, Jérémy Daillet studied percussion in Tours and then in Lyon. In 2009 he created Replay — a performance mixing dance and percussion. He joined the ensemble in 2011. In 2018, he conceived an original form of performance with storyteller Frida Morrone that is dedicated to the very young audience: La Grenouille qui but toute l’eau. For the 2019-20 season, he is in charge of the project The Red Balloon that involves various transcribed works of French composer Darius Milhaud.
Renaud Cholewa
Renaud Cholewa joined the ensemble in February 2018 with a diverse background in music and teaching that has been accomplished in Lille, Tours, Lyon and Geneva. He likes to explore ever wider artistic horizons that contribute to his own musical enrichment: shows for young audiences, symphonic repertoire, post-rock videos, Brazilian and Indian music…
Lara Oyedepo
Lara Oyedepo joined the ensemble in October 2018 whilst completing her studies at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon. Since her adolescence in Franche-Comté (eastern France), broad musical horizons have shaped her taste for chamber music, from the confrontation of the flute consort Clic & Tactus, and through an electronic device to recent creations with the Ensemble 5 Dimensions.
